Lunar society shines spotlight on fusion energy at annual boulton & watt lecture

At the Society’s annual Boulton & Watt Lecture guests heard from a senior member of the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) who spoke about how fusion energy could be the power of the future.

The UKAEA operates at the forefront of science, engineering, and technology to make sustainable fusion energy a reality. It aims to put fusion energy onto the UK grid by the 2040s, something that does not come without its challenges.

Clive Stone DL, FTLS, Lunar Society Chair, said: “The original Lunar Society founders were instrumental in the development and proliferation of the steam engine – providing a form of energy that powered the industrial revolution. Fusion energy could have a similar transformative effect, but it will require a leap from the theory to a tangible reality. This was both a fascinating and important discussion.”
