Professor Simon SchafferProfessor Simon Schaffer will be giving a lecture on how the Lunar Society influenced and was influenced by the European Age of Enlightenment.

 

Simon Schaffer is Professor of History of Science at the University of Cambridge and fellow of Darwin College. He has coedited ‘The sciences in enlightened Europe’ and ‘The material culture of enlightenment arts and sciences’. In 2013 he wrote and presented ‘Mechanical marvels’ for BBC4 television, followed by ‘Mechanical monsters’ in 2018.

 

Light refreshments are available prior to the lecture. Tickets are free of charge.
