Every prime minister has close advisers and some become controversial in their own right. That is certainly true for Birmingham born Nick Timothy who served Theresa May as chief of staff until 2017  when he resigned in the wake of the general election  result. Nick played a key role in developing Mrs May’s more inclusive approach and the Conservative election manifesto. He is  a strong champion of this City and the wider West Midlands. He now writes a regular columns for both the Telegraph and the Sun.

Nick is an engaging speaker and has also agreed to a wide ranging Q&A session following his talk. This promises to be one of the highlights of the Society’s already impressive year.

Nick was born in Birmingham and attended King Edward VI Grammar School in Aston and the University of Sheffield. He cited as his inspiration in politics the Birmingham-born Liberal politician Joseph Chamberlain.
