Come behind the scenes at Birmingham Museums Trust on a Lunar Society conservation studio tour. Meet the conservators and see first-hand the ways in which they look after the Trust’s varied collections. This tour will provide a fascinating insight into the role conservators play in preserving objects how they are prepared for loans and exhibitions. Among the objects in the studio will be objects selected for James Watt Exhibition opening on 12 July at the Library of Birmingham.

Professor Simon Schaffer will be giving a lecture on how the Lunar Society influenced and was influenced by the European Age of Enlightenment.   Simon Schaffer is Professor of History of Science at the University of Cambridge and fellow of Darwin College.
