Sir Adrian Cadbury: 2007 Lunar Medal citation
Sir Adrian Cadbury has had a stellar career in national and international industry, while at the same time being an outstanding supporter of public life in the Midlands. On the world stage his name will long be remembered for his work in improving corporate governance standards both in industry and other spheres of activity. Here in Birmingham he has played leading roles in our local universities and charities such as the Birmingham Settlement.
Adrian’s contacts in the City were vital in building up the early cross-sectional membership on which the success of the modern Lunar Society depended. He even persuaded members of the Darwin and Wedgwood families to add their names to the membership, giving the Society a real and tangible link with its forebears.
In his wider life he has added lustre to the reputation of our region, while locally he has contributed immensely to achieving the objectives of the Lunar Society of enhancing the economic, cultural and social progress of the region. For these reasons, the Society is pleased to award this medal.
