The Lunar Society
In the future, as in the past, Birmingham will rely on harnessing the energy, inventiveness and brainpower of its people. The Lunar Society stands for the belief that success for Birmingham as a global city will depend on what kind of place we make it, how well we can knit together the social, economic and environmental matters — and above all, on our own efforts. The original Lunar Society showed us that it can be done, and also much of how to do it.
To that end, the modern-day Society does not take positions, but brings together those with relevant interests and influence. We aim to stimulate necessary change and adaptation by exposing our members to a wider range of ideas and people than they might encounter in their daily routines, and to focus their attention on some of the larger issues affecting all of us, in particular the citizens and future citizens of Birmingham and the wider region.
