Matthew Boulton's Gardens at Soho
On Wednesday 28th October, Phillada Ballard, Lunarwoman gave a talk at Soho House on Matthew Boulton's gardens.
Phillada is a historian of gardens and architecture with special interest in the Birmingham region. Alongside her colleagues, Val Loggie, former curator of Soho House Museum and Shena Mason, who has edited the catalogue that accompanied the major exhibition celebrating the Matthew Boulton bicentenary in 2009, wrote the first book documenting the history of the garden:A lost Landscape: Matthew Boulton's Gardens at Soho. The talk looked at Boulton's interest in landscape gardening throwing a surprising light on a lost and intriguing aspect of the city's heritage.
