Shri Venkateswara (Balaji) Temple
On Tuesday 3rd June Lunar Society members visited the Shri Venkateswara (Balaji) Temple, in Tividale.
The members enjoyed a tour of the beautiful Hindu Temple, followed by a presentation by Dr Rao, the Chairman of the Trustees. Over a catered South Indian meal, where there was opportunities for Q&A and discussion. The Society meeting was chaired by Professor Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya.
The Tarapati Temple in South India is one of the most sacred sites in the Hindu world, and its distinctive architecture has been followed here in the West Midlands. Consecrated over a five-day series of ceremonies attracting over ten thousand of devotees in 2006, the Shri Venkateswara (Balaji) Temple in Tividale is the biggest Hindu temple in Europe.
