The Boulton & Watt Commemoration Event
Every year, the Society holds an event in commemoration of Matthew Boulton and James Watt, two of the original Lunarmen of international and well as local renown.
On 17th September 2009, Professor Julia King, Vice Chancellor of Aston University gave the Boulton & Watt Commemoration Lecture on the subject of technologies for sustainable transport at Aston University Great Hall. Chaired by Alan Wenban-Smith click here to read his reflections on the talk.
In 2008, this event was led by David Urquhart, Bishop of Birmingham, at St Mary's Church, Handsworth on 12 May 2008 with a Lecture Reflections on 18 months in Birmingham. and Q&A chaired by Peter Ullathorne.
In 2007, Professor Michael Parkinson CBE of the European Institute for Urban Affairs at Liverpool JM University gave a Lecture Where is Birmingham going in the 21st century? chaired by Alan Wenban-Smith on 31 October at Austin Court.
